Constructions
Berlin, once a city brimming with raw energy and cultural authenticity, now finds itself at a crossroads. The relentless pace of construction has transformed its skyline, but at what cost? Towering glass facades and sprawling developments are rising where gritty charm and historic character once thrived. The echoes of its storied past are being drowned by the hum of cranes and jackhammers, as the soul of the city fades into the background.
This architectural overgrowth threatens to erase Berlin’s unique identity, replacing it with a homogenised modernity seen in cities worldwide. What was once a haven for artists, dreamers, and rebels is fast becoming a playground for corporations and luxury developers. In this race to expand upwards and outwards, Berlin risks losing its roots, its spirit—those intangible qualities that made it more than just a collection of buildings. Will the city remember its heart before it’s too late? Or will it, like so many others, surrender its essence to the tides of unchecked development?
Construction is my attempt to hold this moment still — to document the scaffolds, cranes, and skeletal frames as more than mere signs of progress. Through the lens, these temporary structures become metaphors: of impermanence, of displacement, of a city constantly tearing itself apart and remaking itself. The photographs are both a record and a question: what future is being built here, and who will belong to it?
This is an on going project
